 | Thu Feb 1, 2007 Drilling Progress On Several Fronts
|
| | Michigan/Cameco U Joint Venture
Bitterroot Resources Ltd.'s drilling contractor has completed 1,322 metres of core drilling in seven holes in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The drilling program successfully tested five unconformity-hosted uranium targets. The Proterozoic unconformity being targeted was intersected in all holes and graphitic basement conductors were intersected in four of the five target areas. Core logging and sampling will continue in February, with analytical results not expected before late April.
Mineral Creek Gold Project, BC
Drilling results from 44 holes drilled on the Lower Linda vein are being compiled and integrated with previous drilling. Results from the remaining holes from the 2006 drilling program are expected to be finalized and released in the next few weeks. Permit applications for an underground bulk sampling program on the Lower Linda vein and the 900 Zone have been submitted to the BC Ministry of Energy and Mines and are currently being processed. In 2007, drilling is planned on several additional targets as snow conditions permit.
Big Southeaster Gold Project, BC
A drill rig has been operating since early December 2006 on the Big Southeaster gold property, which adjoins the south side of the Mineral Creek property near Port Alberni, BC. As of the date of this news release, the Company's drilling contractor has completed 1,270 metres of core drilling in five holes, testing structurally-controlled gold targets. Core logging has identified quartz veining, alteration and sulphide-bearing quartz stockworks. Samples are currently being shipped to the lab for analysis and drilling is continuing.
North Brenda Project, BC
A drill was mobilized to the North Brenda property on January 29, 2007. A minimum of 1,200 metres of core drilling in 4 holes are planned. This program will test four soil geochemical (lead/zinc/silver) and geophysical (gravity, IP) targets in sedimentary and volcanic rocks adjacent to or in contact with the intrusive suite of rocks which host the Brenda Cu/Mo deposit.
GK Gold Project, BC
Soil geochemical surveys completed in the fourth quarter of 2006 defined the newly discovered Hornet zone. Anomalous soil geochemical values of greater than 50 ppb gold occur within an area measuring approximately 450 metres x 175 metres, with a maximum soil value of 5,800 ppb gold. The Hornet zone also hosts coincident anomalous silver, arsenic and copper values in soil. A grab sample of quartz vein float from within the zone returned 16.2 grams Au/tonne. The 2007 exploration program is being planned, which will include construction of a drill access road, trenching, geophysical surveys and geological mapping, followed by drilling in the second half of the year.
